Episode 8: From Fortnite to New Heights

In episode eight, we’re taking you from coast to canyon, with our first stop in Las Vegas, where we teamed up with gaming legend Tyler "Ninja" Blevins for a high-energy, Fortnite charity event at the iconic Esports Arena inside the Luxor 🎮🔥.

Then, we shift gears and hit the red rocks of Moab, Utah, for a very different kind of production — a cinematic brand video for Summit Financial. With our crew and a team of seasoned climbers, we scaled the legendary Castleton Tower to capture a story about ambition, risk, and trust.

This project began when I sent an email to Ninja’s contact email at the time, which ended up being his wife. She responded saying they were interested but needed to include his talent agency which he newly joined. We did a few calls to dial in what we would provide until finally get the thumbs up for all-access approval of the event.

I am passionate about creating good stories and I have always loved video games so getting 2 combine the two was amazing. I felt like we got to witness a lot of really rare things and be part of the beginning of Ninja’s launch to fame

We were working around the event staff, Ninja’s busy schedule and other video teams making content as well. We also had to walk away with enough content to create a sizzle that could help sell Ninja on backing this docu series. Also travel.. Driving to Vegas, dealing with AirBnb canceling on us.

We had put together plenty of plans and had audibles ready in case things didn’t go as planned. Having various camera builds ready to go at a moments notice for interviews was helpful as we had lots of famous people just wandering around that we captured on a whim.

This entire project started from just sending a single hail mary email. Just a reminder that there is no such thing as a dumb idea.
