Episode 6: The Office

Workplace safety, but make it The Office. 😆🎬

In episode six, we take office safety very seriously… kind of. Inspired by the hit show, The Office, we created a workplace safety video for one of our clients that’s equal parts informative and hilarious. From brainstorming the concept to filming to bringing it to life in post, this episode gives you a front-row seat to the entire creative process. Plus, see how our team celebrates holidays and birthdays in the most Retrospec way possible.

Project Stills

The TGNR “Office” parody project stemmed from Jason's previous collaboration with Olivia on a safety video for WPX. That project was creatively driven, parodying different movie scenes. The  team did such a great job that when Olivia needed a new safety video for TGNR, she wanted to bring the same fun, creative approach. The TGNR project opened my eyes to the world of mockumentaries, and how it can be a fun style to blend entertainment with educational content.

One of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to make the safety message clear while still keeping the humor intact. The last thing we wanted was for the safety details to get lost in the jokes. The solution came when Jason suggested adding a "Voice of Safety" character, which helped balance the comedy with the need for clarity. Caroline and Kyle took the first pass at incorporating this, and it worked perfectly. The client loved it, and we were able to maintain the fun spirit while ensuring the safety procedures were communicated.

In the end, this project was a reminder of our role: to bring the client’s vision to life, no matter what it takes.
